Aug 7, 2026 11:22 AM

Term 3 has been filled with energy and enthusiasm across the Secondary School, with students participating or electing to be in a wide range of sporting, academic and co-curricular opportunities.

Sporting highlights include Futsal, Football (Soccer), Netball, Regional and ACT Athletics, Mountain Biking and Hard Ball Cricket. Students are also engaging in a variety of enriching experiences, including Book Week celebrations, the Twilight Concert, the Careers Expo (Years 9-12), Year 8 Snowsports Camp, the Year 11 Sapphire and Tree Planting Excursion, the Years 9-12 Elective Snowsports Camp, Schools RoboCup, and the International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) in Writing, Mathematics and Science.

We are proud of the enthusiasm our students continue to show and hope they are enjoying the many opportunities available to them, including our lunchtime clubs and after-school activities.

Secondary Learning Journey and Parent-Teacher Interviews

At Orana, we value the strong partnership between students, families and teachers in supporting student learning and growth.

We warmly invite parents and carers to attend our Secondary Learning Journey on Thursday 27th August from 6.00pm to 7.00pm. This event provides students with the opportunity to share their learning experiences and achievements, while giving families valuable insight into their educational journey.

The Learning Journey strengthens the connection between home and school and highlights the important role that families play in supporting student success. We encourage all parents and carers to attend where possible and thank you for your ongoing support of your child's learning.

Parent-Teacher Interviews will also be held on Thursday 10th September and Monday 14th September. Further information regarding bookings and schedules will be communicated via email in the coming weeks.

Year 12 Viva Voce and AST Examinations

Congratulations to our Year 12 students on their excellent presentations during last week's Viva Voce assessments. This important milestone marks the first formal stage of their year-long Major Project.

Students demonstrated impressive preparation, commitment and passion for their chosen topics. Throughout the process, they have shown resilience, perseverance and a genuine dedication to deepening their knowledge and understanding. We wish them every success as they continue with their practical work, reflective journals and final presentations.

We also extend our best wishes to our Year 12 tertiary students as they prepare for the upcoming ACT Scaling Test (AST) on 25th and 26th August. Their hard work throughout the year, supported by their teachers and Main Lesson studies, has prepared them well for this important assessment.
