Secondary Learning Journey

This term Years 7 - 12 welcomed families into classrooms and workshops for our Secondary Learning Journey. This opportunity was for students to share the work, skills and learning experiences from Term 3.

More than simply an exhibition of finished work, the Learning Journey offers families a glimpse into the process of learning across multiple subjects: the questions students have explored, the practical skills they have developed, and the ways their understanding continues to grow across the curriculum.

Throughout the evening, families had the opportunity to move through classrooms and specialist learning spaces and workshops, engaging with students and teachers and gaining a deeper appreciation of the work taking place across Years 7 - 12.

For our students, sharing their learning with their families provides an opportunity to reflect on their own progress, articulate their thinking and take ownership and a sense of pride and accomplishment of their work. For families, it opens a valuable window into the educational journey taking place within the school.

A particularly anticipated part of the evening was hearing from our Year 12 students, who shared insights into their upcoming Year 12 Projects. These substantial individual projects are a significant milestone in the Senior College years and are something younger Secondary students look up to as they progress through the to Senior College.

The evening was a wonderful reflection of the breadth of learning, practical engagement and growing independence that characterise the Secondary years at Orana, while also providing an important opportunity for students, teachers and families to come together around the work of the students.

We thank our Secondary staff, students and families for making the Learning Journey a meaningful celebration of learning and community.
