Craft Group

Every Friday morning from 9:00am to 12:30pm, we meet in the new Preschool room (please ask at the Front Office for directions) and enjoy a morning of coffee and cake, while creating marvellous items in the Steiner tradition.

Children are always welcome, and enjoy playing in the garden and sandpit, or making felt scrap masterpieces under the tables while we work and chat. And no need to worry if you are all thumbs – there re always plenty of helpers to support you and teach you the tricks that make the craft come together.

We’ve got lots of projects to work on, so if you are an old hand at craft, or if you have never tried DIY Steiner, come and join us – there is no nicer way to earn your community hours than filling the Craft Group stall at the Spring Fair.

Contact [email protected] if you want to join our mailing list, or just drop in one morning for a warm welcome.

Term 1 2017

The Craft Group would like to extend a very warm welcome to all new and continuing families at Orana School, and invite you to join us in building the community spirit of the school through craft.

This term we will be sewing felt animals for the Spring Fair in Term 4, starting with very simple mice and building up to the fantastic dragons and unicorns so loved by our children. We’ll also be wet-felting – making our own beautiful felt for crowns and playmats from coloured fleece – a traditional skill which is endlessly fascinating. And we’ll also be trying some new versions of those old favourites, the peg dolls.

We have our very own Pinterest page at so we can keep up with those brilliant craft ideas which help make the Craft Group stall at the Spring Fair so appealing – feel free to check it out.

Looking forward to your company!
